Tales from Tuckers Mill

Boy, life has sure been moving at a hectic pace! It seems like it was just Memorial Day yesterday and now July is almost over.

I've been putting the finishing touches on my first book in the Tuckers Mill series and finding out that doing revisions is just as hard as writing the book in the first place! Thankfully, it's moving along and I'm hoping to get it out there into the world and hopefully accepted by an agency by September of this year. Please keep your fingers crossed!

I've written a tag line for the first book and entered it in a contest. Here it is, please tell me what you think.

Tucker Mills - visit once, stay a lifetime!

I'm hoping this will be true for both the characters in my series of books and also the readers!

Seems like I will do anything to get a book autographed by Nora Roberts, Linda Howard, Jeannie Adams and Stephanie Laurens because I just stood in line in a heavy thunderstorm and got soaked through but I got my books signed LOL

I'm spending the weekend in Boonsboro, MD with a great group of friends and so far we are having a ball. Meet & Greet Party last night at InnBoonsboro with 35 crazy women and two handsome men (Nora Roberts' husband and our own DJ Billy who spun some wonderful tunes for us!)

Today we had the signing and tonight after dinner we're heading over to the indoor pool for another party with our gang. Tomorrow begins with a Brunch hosted by Nora and ends with a raffle for baskets contributed from several people from our group. Our entry this year is called Lovers of the Night. Our "basket" is actually a 4" cardboard coffin filled with books, DVDs and other vampire themed items. We're anxious to see who wins our entry!

Since I'm away, nothing much has happend in Tuckers Mill. Hopefully, things will begin heating up again on Monday night when I return!

Last night my friend JJ and I did writing races together. We work in either fifteen or twenty minute sessions and then exchange word counts when our time is up. JJ controls the timer; I might be tempted to cheat if I’m on a roll! Since we didn’t actually get started until close to 2AM, we only did two races. Results, however, were good J

Today I’ll be going over what I did last night to clean it up and hopefully, make it shine. Tonight, we’ll try for less chatter and more racing LOL

I’m getting ready for our annual trek down to Boonsboro, MD for an anniversary signing for Nora Roberts, Linda Howard and several other authors. Friends I’ve talked with online all year will be there and it’s like attending the best high school reunion you ever went to! More on that as our departure date gets closer. Hopefully, I’ll be able to blog about some of the goings on while I’m down there. Keep tuned in!

Actually, Tuckers Mill sprang to life in my imagination after seeing Boonsboro for the first time. It’s larger than my own imaginary town but filled with the same friendly people. It has a quaint Main Street there that I modeled my own after, even placing my main character, Molly Barber’s bookstore on it along with several other businesses that will show up in different books in the series.

As the title says, this is going to be a blog about things going on in my life; things I'm accomplishing in my writing career and little tidbits about the goings on in my fictional town of Tuckers Mill.

First off, my life is currently all about the writing LOL Right now, I'm working on the 2nd draft of the first book in my series about Tuckers Mill. The books will depict life in a small town where everyone knows each other which can be or not always be a good thing! I'm hoping to create characters who people can laugh with, cry with and want to sit down and have a cup of coffee or tea in the morning with even after the book is finished. In other words, I want to introduce real people my readers can identify with.

I'm hoping Tuckers Mill is the kind of town you'll want to visit again and again. I know I'm looking forward to visiting as often as possible.
